The highly-awaited Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video soon, and audience theories has been intense.
The first season presents a diverse group of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive fan obsession.
The community's expectations for season 2 vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Will a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the binding agreement affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with fan service as the main goal," the creator commented recently. "But I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.
That could imply fans have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how fast season 2 moves, and how many of what they're waiting for unfolds this season.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some really amazing reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — especially in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a couple people make a bingo card about season 2," she mentions. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've already completed a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
