19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually improved in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks his initial championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court after that period of the previous year.

Victory also means Medvedev has won 21 victories at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

The champion fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional championship, took control to push for a third set.

He rescued four early opportunities in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he clinched victory with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
